Enter the name of your planet in the search box and click “search” or press return. Next, click on an article with information. Click on the “multimedia” tab to go to pictures.

Once the site has loaded, click on the word “space” – it is located under the “Science & Math” heading. Once that page has loaded, click on the word “planets.” This brings you to a page of over 20 different websites on planets and the solar system. Many of them are very good.

This online almanac and encyclopedia (the same one that many of you used during the elements projects) offers great general information on the planets and the solar system.

These two sites describe the history, mythology and current scientific knowledge of each of the planets and moons and other objects in our solar system. The site is written and designed especially for students. The nineplanets.org site has many links to the official NASA website. Easy to navigate.

NASA Website. This site is loaded with great information. There are many great sites to which you can navigate, if you begin here. The JPL/NASA is a must.

The print resources you will use can be found in the reference section and in the general collection. The reference resources are as follows:

GENERAL COLLECTION PRINT — 523 – BOOKS ON SPECIFIC PLANETS

If you use the OPAC (Online Public Access Catalog) on the computer to look up a book on a specific planet, you will find that the main call number (a book’s address) is 523. The number may be 523.1, 523.2, 523.3, 523.4, 523.5, 523.6, 523.7, 523.8, or 523.9 depending on the planet for which you are searching.
